WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
THE CHALLENGE
Theme? Fairytale horror!
Once upon a time ... but will there be a happy ending this time too? A dark curse has struck the best-known fairy tales. Their stories have been erased, familiar images mysteriously altered, and the creatures that people have warned children about for centuries have been set free.
Among enchanted forests, blurred memories, and the darkest villains of the fairy-tale world, mysterious messages await you. Only those who correctly interpret their twisted clues and confront the forces behind the curse can save the lost fairy tales.
But beware: Not every character wants you to discover the truth. And some stories should have remained closed forever.
How does it work?
After the challenge starts at 8:00 p.m., you’ll see a map of the play area on our challenge platform, with a total of 30 puzzle stations that you can visit in any order.
If successful, each station earns you 2, 4, 6, or 10 points, depending on the difficulty and time required. If you solve the task, the corresponding number of points will be credited to your account.
What is our goal?
Collect as many points as possible in four hours—ideally more than all your competitors. You’ll be competing against well over 100 opposing teams, so you certainly won’t be underchallenged.
Will we encounter spooky figures?
It all depends on who books ... Just kidding! During the challenge, you’ll encounter actors playing the Big Bad Wolf, a grumpy stepmother, a mysterious witch, and a shameless robber. They have funny lines and mysterious clues in store for you.
Will someone scare us?
No, don’t worry—we won’t scare you this year either. The spooky factor is based solely on the time of day and the game area. The puzzles will challenge you, but they certainly won’t frighten you.
More questions and answers
Where does the challenge start?
The challenge has neither a starting point nor an endpoint. Based on the locations and points, you decide which stations to visit and when. A good strategy helps—completing all the stations is possible, but demanding. Important: Be at any location within the play area by 8:00 p.m. at the latest.
Do we need to prepare?
You need a smartphone with as full a battery as possible and an internet connection. We also recommend comfortable clothing and writing materials for taking notes on site.
How are the puzzles solved?
At each station, you will find a puzzle on site in a wide variety of ways, or a fairy-tale character. Once you have the solution, enter it on your smartphone and receive immediate feedback on whether your answer is correct or incorrect.
What happens if we answer incorrectly?
You have five attempts per station. If your fifth answer is also incorrect, that location is locked and you can no longer earn any points there. In this case, simply proceed to the next station.
Are the puzzles explained at the end?
Yes. Immediately after the challenge ends, you will receive an email with all the correct answers and the corresponding explanations. The winning team will also receive all the information about the prize they have won.
Which team wins?
The team with the most points at the end of the challenge wins. If two or more teams have the same number of points, they all win. The time taken to play does not matter.
What happens if our battery runs out?
If your battery is running low or the internet is not working properly, you can switch to a second smartphone: scan the QR code or click the link—you can then continue playing as normal.
Which rules do we need to follow?
- Signs are placed at many puzzle stations. Please leave the stations as you found them.
- You start as a team and should also solve the puzzles as a team. Deliberately splitting up to save time is not allowed and will be monitored by us.
- In cases of seriously unfair behavior, teams may be disqualified and removed from the rankings.
